Making cutwork table linen can be a fun project
This article will give you complete instructions so that you can create your own cutwork table linen. Materials List
This project requires the following tools and materials:
Embroidery machine
Wing needle
Spray adhesive
Surgical seam ripper
Paper stabilizer
100% natural fiber linen
Either cotton, silk, or linen
Polyester thread
Fiber etch
Plastic plate Project Instructions
Your first step will be to fit your embroidery hoop tightly with stabilizers. Use a scrap piece of linen to embroider a sample and check your placement. Next determine where to place the cutwork design on the linen. It is helpful to use a template in this process. The template should be pinned to the linen, and then both should be placed in the embroidery hoop. It is now time to remove the template. Check to be sure that your polyester thread is in both the top and the bobbin. Now go ahead and embroider your design onto the linen. Place the embroidered design on top of the plastic plate. Find where you would typically cut and place a small drop of Fiber Etch. The piece should not be soaked. Do not do anything to try and help the Fiber Etch along; let it naturally seep to the edges all by itself. Allow the piece to completely dry before ironing it on the wool setting. The portion where you have placed Fiber Etch will turn dark brown. You can now remove the linen with a surgical seam ripper. Using a wing needle to create a hem will allow you to give the piece an old fashioned look.
