Linen presses will add a nice touch to your dining room
Here are the instruction and tools you will need in order to create your own linen press. Materials List
Cardboard or inch thick core board
Cutting mat
Craft knife
Ruler
Decorative wrapping paper or wallpaper find two complementary designs that match your dining room decor
White craft glue
Grosgrain or satin ribbon use a color to match the designs you have chosen Project Instructions
Determine the measurements of your largest dinner napkins. Cut out two pieces of cardboard or core board that are slightly larger than these measurements. Cut two pieces of your first wallpaper pattern. They should be large enough to cover the cardboard piece and wrap around to the other side at least two inches. Your wallpaper should now be glued to one side of each piece of cardboard. Press firmly, or use a bone folder, to remove any bubble or wrinkles. After you have finished the front, glue down the two inches of fold over on each side. Give the glue time to dry. Both pieces of covered board should be laid down next to each other on a flat surface. There should be a one inch gap between the two pieces. It should look like an opened book without a binding. Ribbon should now be glued onto the inside middle of each board. The ribbon is what will be used to connect the two pieces. A one inch space should be maintained where the two pieces of cardboard meet. The glue should completely dry. Now it is time to cut out your piece of coordinating wallpaper. It is fine if you would rather just use one pattern. This piece should be cut about one inch smaller than the piece of cardboard. This piece should be firmly glued onto the inside of the first piece to create a finished look to the inside. The place where the ribbon has been glued to the board will be covered by this piece of paper. Again you will need to wait for your glue to dry. Clean, starch, and iron your very best napkins and lay them flat inside the press. Fold the press over and tie it with the ribbon. This is a decorative piece that will look great on a shelf or buffet until it is ready to be used.
